Citizenship

Citizenship at Haygrove is vitally important in the development of our students as responsible members of the global community.
Citizenship intends to enable our students to become confident, self-reliant participators in their communities; to develop into active, informed citizens able to effect positive change to improve their own lives and the lives of those around them.

Citizenship:

  • involves students positively, encouraging participation in school and community life
  • links Haygrove with our neighbours and community parties
  • supports inclusion and promotes positive behaviour, equal opportunities, respect and responsibility
  • provides a focus for publishing and celebrating Haygrove's activities.

Every student follows a programme of Citizenship Studies that is integrated across the school curriculum throughout Years 7 to 11. In addition there are special focus days when particular groups of pupils concentrate on an aspect of Citizenship appropriate to their developmental needs.
